I'm glad for that, but snafu -

How about in the future, the institution sends a copy of any tuition statements to both you and your ex and you step out of the gatekeeper role?

Agree. I have to comply with custody agreements and so I sometimes sent out 2 report cards, 2 bills, etc. Even though DH and I are married, my boys' college tuition bills go to them. It's their responsibility to come to us to pay the bill.

My kids' schools always had to do it. Bills, grades, notices about upcoming parent meetings... even anything the PTA sent out had to be sent to both households. That's why I knew about it.

AFIK, doctor's offices, dentists, etc... they all do it too. It is not uncommon.

Other than school junk I never realize I could have others send ex his own copies.

One of my friends had the orthodontist send her ex a copy of the bill. That way she had proof that she had paid her half and he had been notified of his half, and they chased after HIM instead of her.

Ok - :) last ortho payment was last Jan.

My divorce decree stated that for med bills ex would pay me his share within 30 days of being given proof that I'd paid a bill. :(

here we go again

cliff notes: DS is going on a school trip, ex has made his payments for his share to the school .... until now .... the last payment is due next week & ex told DS (over the weekend) that he didn't have the money (right then). {I made my last payment early - was afraid I'd mess up & forget}

IF the school doesn't have ex's share recorded as paid by Fri. I'm taking DS to the bank so he (DS) can make the last payment.


DH is being my rock ....

I don't know what to say about this.

X should pay the bill. DS shouldn't have to compensate for his father. How sad.
