Re: The other end of the mommy wars!

That last line may be the truest one! She won't know until she tries it, I think. :)

But the rest is also true. Some grandmothers do act like grandchildren are a "do-over" without taking...

The other end of the mommy wars!

I wasn't sure where I wanted to put this, but I think it belongs here!

I was at a retirement party yesterday for a friend I met at work many, many years ago. We both had children. I left the job...

Asking for raises

Actually, this is starting salary.

I have recently switched to a full time job. I was offered a starting salary, which I rejected. I was then offered more, and although it's not what I wanted,...

Re: Yeast challange

Hungarian coffee cake sounds great!

I don't know how I missed this thread before. I used to keep yeast in the freezer to extend its shelf life. I don't bake enough anymore to worry about it.

Re: no friends IRL

It takes time, and a few false starts.

Have you reached out to anyone? The Book Club movie is funny!

Re: menu planning

It's a great system.

My system is: It's 4:30 and I have to make dinner. What do I have? That's what I'll cook.

Oh, we don't have anything? Take out or go to dinner?

:D

Re: Ditch or no?

I agree with everything that was said. This fable is one of my favorites! And it's true-- character traits are very difficult to change for those who really want to change, and impossible for those...

Re: It's been so long..

Welcome back, Tonnie!

I'm sorry about your poor cats, but I'm so happy to hear you are flexing your work schedule. And homeschooling on top of that? That's a lot!

Re: Moooom - arg

If my mom said something to me about my weight, I'd be "Arrggghhh." But if she said anything to my children, I'd tell her to keep her opinion to herself.

Kids have enough pressure to look...

Re: Parents sue to evict 30 yr old son

I don't disagree with you at all. IMO, he's clearly got some challenges. Is he dangerous? Not yet. And because of that, the parents can't do anything wrt his mental health. They don't have any...

Re: Parents sue to evict 30 yr old son

I heard about it. I was thinking that this is clearly a parent problem. They could easily toss his things to the curb and change the locks. They didn't need a court. They needed to parent.

Re: Friend's taking me to a ballroom party.

You can't get out. You MUST go. There's no way to tell your friend no. Go. Meet a foreign bride at the social, get married, and live happily ever after doing what everyone else tells you because...

Re: Encouraging Parents to Put Final Wishes in Writing

When the kids are young adults, the conversation is more like, "We have wills. They are there with other important documents just in case...." Usually right before I get on an airplane.

I won't...

Re: Fixed marriage?

If you are in the United States, just say no. Your parents can't force you to marry and arranged marriages without consent of the spouses are not valid. If you are under 18, it's also considered...

I am lazy. I'd go with coreopsis, daylillies or spiderwort. I'm sure there...
