sleep apnea

I apparently am having it intermittently

Some nights I snore awfully - the next day is when I crash ....

DH and I had plans for a date night yesterday (note the HAD). I fought sleep for hours after I got up, had a killer headache, and finally gave up/in and slept. I spent most of yesterday sleeping, and I still have a headache today.

I am so pizzed - I'm going to be calling the dentist and the orthodontist to find out who can make me a mouth guard - I'd rather wear a mouth guard nightly than feel awful .... and I really don't want to miss date night again

{and while DH was disappointed, he was wonderful to me}

Re: sleep apnea

What were the results of that sleep study you did?

Did the study connect sleep apnea with TMJ disorders?

I clench my teeth at night. I have a mouth guard from the local sports store. I wear it when I notice I become aware that I'm clenching.

Re: sleep apnea

kaykay- the results were that I have insignificant apnea.

Medically, it might register as insignificant, but from my point of view it isn't. 1 night of snoring/apnea = unable to function the next day, and some issues the day after that.

lucy - nothing was said about TMJ

The only recommendation they had for me was "don't sleep on your back" and I'd be fine.

snerk - do they make adult sized baby side sleepers/anti-roll supports?

Re: sleep apnea

You can retrain your sleeping position.

If a doctor didn't recommend a mouth guard, I wouldn't go that route. First, you stop wearing them over time. Second, they aren't sexy, not even in purple.

Re: sleep apnea

but they're sexier than a C-PAP

IF I had significant sleep apnea, the mouth guard is an option (other options were C-PAP or surgery)
