Re: Tooth Fairy - What's the going rate

We have a cheap tooth fairy. $1. DD has left notes asking to keep the teeth, which the tooth fairy had complied with, but this last time she got greedy. She asked for a $100 bill and to keep her tooth. She got $1 and the tooth fairy took the tooth.

Many of my neighbors give $10-20, though. We're still sticking to $1. I wouldn't want to encourage the kids to have teeth extracted just to get paid.

Well, around here the tooth fairy leaves a dollar and usually some stickers or some little prize. But that's because my kids are rather indifferent to/oblivious about money and they get much more excited about the stickers. At 12 obviously it is different.

Re: Tooth Fairy - What's the going rate

Well, DS lost a tooth several days ago and literally lost it after showing to us, meaning that he could not find it to put under his pillow. While DH and I were looking for this tooth, he asked:"
What's the big deal, why do you need that tooth anyway?"
DH said: "Why, to put under your pillow for the tooth fairy!"
DS: "There is no such thiiiiing !!!!!!!

DS is 8.

Not in my household. DS (10) announced last month that he doesn't believe in Santa - or the Easter Bunny - or the tooth fairy (who, by the way, leaves $5 to my kids [DH's idea, not mine. I'm the evil DM who thinks that $1 is just fine]). BUT, like his sister before him, still expects the 'tooth fairy' aka 'Daddy War Bucks' to leave the cash.

Absolutely I agree wholeheartedly! I have to keep the car keys hidden or I would be
walking around!

Oh, no!

Blue Skies, no cash when they don't believe in the tooth fairy. I still make Easter Baskets and give Christmas gifts, though. From an early age, I told them that when they stopped believing in Santa, they will become Santa. They buy each other Christmas gifts and they love it!

HHH, my kids won't even give me a list. When asked, they either say, "I don't know" or "Nothing." Yeah, like I'm going to believe 2 teenage boys want nothing for Christmas. I think they're still testing to see if Santa can read their minds!
