It's about to get serious!

I've been doing intermittent jog/walking for about a year. I haven't really improved much mostly because I'm by myself so I don't really challenge myself.

Two months ago, I joined some ladies who were working a couch-to-5k program. I have done some improvement and I like it. I do better with other people, but I didn't feel pressure to compete, either.

Until this morning. They are signing up for a real 5k+Fitness challenge and we are supposed to start some serious "training" on Monday.

Good luck! You're a braver woman than I.

Good luck Lucy!

Sounds like you are nearly there, if you can already walk-jog 5km (~3miles?). Would love to know how you get on.

Re: It's about to get serious!

I've been walking it almost daily for a few years, Mrs. X. Running it is a whole 'nother story!

Re: It's about to get serious!

We never got to that race. I never completed the C25K program. But I have not quit.

I recently extended distance to 5 miles, 5 days a week, walking and jogging. My time is actually 20% better when I'm by myself.

Re: It's about to get serious!

I did some interval running/walking/sprinting today. My app said I burned over 500 calories in the 40min workout.

So I came in and ate a brownie.
