DS leaving/losing stuff

sigh .... DS is having issues (btw- I have not been rescuing him)

his computer got left behind at his dad's one weekend and he needed for a class project {ex & DS each thought the other one had loaded the computer - ex shipped it back to DS & DS paid for the shipping}

DS has lost his wallet while at his dad's .... all his IDs are gone (driver's permit replaced yesterday), all his gift cards from X-mas - gone (well, the ones he hadn't used yet), and the $$ he'd saved for his band trip - gone. The last place anyone remembers DS having it was at his dad's.

That lost wallet and forgotten laptop are painful lessons. You're doing good!

Re: DS leaving/losing stuff

in regards to his computer I had a talk with him that he knows his dad has ADD & that he (DS) needs to be responsible for making sure his own stuff makes it back.

Re: DS leaving/losing stuff

It's hard to let our young adult children take these responsibilities and consequences for themselves but we must. Seems like you're doing well. It can be very frustrating.

Re: DS leaving/losing stuff

sigh ... I'd gotten DS "beat" ear buds for his birthday (they were on sale)

guess who lost them ....

guess who drove & found them (not the person who lost them) where they'd fallen out of a pocket ... in a parking lot (quote me... they were too "@#$ expensive to throw away" - not my proudest moment)

Re: DS leaving/losing stuff

We all lose our temper. Was he with you when you went looking for them?

When DD loses something, I help her look, but I won't look without her. And if she doesn't look and I find it, I'll keep it.

Re: DS leaving/losing stuff

We'd met his dad at "Half-way Town" and I was on my way back home when he let me know that they were missing .... his dad wouldn't go back so they could look for them .... so I did

(then the car broke down - at that point my life ____)

Re: DS leaving/losing stuff

OK, that makes sense why DS didn't go to look for them; he actually wasn't able to look for them.

Sorry about the car.

Re: DS leaving/losing stuff

DS has found something he lost at his dad's - a long time ago

his first wallet - with gift cards, $$ and other stuff --- it was eaten by a chair, that "passed" it when it was moved.
