I have the news on all day when I'm home.

Still waiting to see who, though. I'll let you take that one, Lizzie.

Why? (I mean, is there a reason specifically for him, or just because there were going to be conspiracy theorists no matter who it was?)

For several reasons--

There are some "seers" out there who are predicting this pope is the Evil One.

And then we have the kooks who see Illuminati, Jesuits, the Vatican, and One World Order/Religion in everything.

No offense if you are a kook.

ETA: *I* may be the kook. I've been singing lyrics from "Evita" since I heard the crowd chant "Francesco!"

Re: The Pope Resigns?!?

Here's what I have read from a little bit of research...

Quote:
Catholic sources such as St. Francis of Assisi, Bishop Sheen and others have said that there is going to be a final pope who will defect from the faith. In 1139, in Tuam, Ireland, there was an archbishop by the name of Malachy O’Morgair. Later because he was canonized, he was known as St. Malachy. He had just been to Rome and said that God showed him the future and that there would only be 112 more popes from that hour onward. The first pope began with Celestine II. Pope 111 is believed to be the current Pope Benedict XVI.
I read a mini-bio on Wiki yesterday about the new Pope. He certainly doesn't appear to be the type to "defect" from the faith.

I like to keep up on things like this. I just find it all very interesting.

Re: The Pope Resigns?!?

So who is liking Pope Francis? I have to say that I'm very touched by his care for the poor!

Go to :51. I know there is a lot of work to be done, and I hope it is done with love and tenderness!
