Re: snack suggestions

snafu, I keep a high quality peanut butter on hand (ingredients: peanuts. Nothing else) and grab a tablespoon full when I'm hungry. It's not calorie-free, of course, but it does the trick for staving off hunger.

Re: snack suggestions

Zero calorie stuff like: Carrots, celery, cucumbers. Yes, it all sound tastless and boring. Try a little imitation salt on it. Cook a little cabbage and tofu. Flavor it with some bullion. Add some carrots, cellery, onions and a few potatoes. Make a decent low calorie soup.

Like sweet potatoes? Get some fresh ones from the store. Peel them, slice them add a little imitation or sea salt and cook them in the oven until they're just right. Cook up a skinless chicken breast or two in the oven with them. At that matter... dream up a caserole dish with all kind of veggies you like...

I'm getting hungry. Later.

Re: snack suggestions

Yogurt is the best snack for me. If ice cream is one of your favourite, yogurt ice cream is now available in the market right now. You can buy this in different flavours. Low calories and good for digestion.

Re: snack suggestions

A great snack which I have which is low fat (and isnt fresh fruit or veg so won't go off after a few days and end up in the bin) are the Crunchy Nature Valley Granola Bars, I personally like the Oats and Honey ones, Canadian Maple Syrup (for a sweet tooth day) and the Chocolate Chip ones, every girl has that chocolate craving once in a while.
You should check them out, best thing I ever tried to curb my hunger without pigging out on crisps etc.

Re: snack suggestions

The cuties are such a great snack for sweet cravings! Another sweet snack I like are apples as well. Pineapple can be very acidic for your stomach too. Another sweet snack, if you're not looking for fruit, could be rice-cakes. I stay away from the mini ones because once I open the bag, the next thing I know, they're all gone! The apple cinnamon ones are just sweet enough Yogurt is also a great sweet snack.

Re: snack suggestions

I have an over-active sweet tooth and i've found that nuts are a good substitute for these sweet cravings. Pistachios, peanuts and cashews are what I now pick up when I have a sweet craving.

Increasingly I have also been eating seeds as a substitute especially pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

Please beware of yogurt and other snacks that use milk. A lot of the milk being used comes from cows which have been injected with the hormone RBGH this causes the body to produce an insulin like growth factor which has been linked to cancer particularly breast cancer. Yoplait is one company which I think has said that there products are RBGH free.
