Re: bird feeders 0/ squirrles 2
Speaking of squirrels... We have one that keeps emptying the bird feeder - It will jump from the fence to the feeder (about 5ft) and literally empty the feeder. I told my wife I could get rid of the squirrel using peanuts and a rat trap. She didn't like the idea. <shrug> Guess we'll have a fat squirrel hanging around.

I talked to the "experts" and it turns out that most likely I'm blaming poor innocent squirrels while the real culprits, raccoons, got away with it!

Re: bird feeders 0/ squirrles 2
pfft - they climbed the pole and tore into/bent a birdfeeder (wire cage type)
I now have a raccoon baffle = ![]()

snort - I may have beaten the raccoons, but the squirrels take flying leaps from the neighbors tree to my feeder

Those stinkers! Can you move the feeder farther away from the tree?

Re: bird feeders 0/ squirrles 2
I have attracted new birds to my feeders this year.
![]() The funny part is that I bought a food block for a cage feeder specifically to attract woodpeckers (I thought I saw one in the trees beyond our yard). The woodpeckers haven't touched that. They like the regular domed feeder that they can scoop peanuts out of. The chickadees, titmouse, and even sometimes the blue jays have been pecking at the suet block. I have even caught big ol' fat doves teetering on the bar pecking at the cage feeder. LOL.
