Yes! His inspiration was the Creature from the Black Lagoon. I was sorry I wasted my time, too. I thought del Toro missed a great opportunity for big sales because I could see the teen girls liking this strange love story. But by making the movie rated R with those stupid sex scenes, he lost a large part of his audience. I don't understand how it won Best Picture?

Isle of Dogs looks good to me, too.

We saw Ready Player One this weekend. I liked it!

Re: At the movies II

Oh, Lucy, I so agree.

Practically the opening scene and "Miss Gonna Give the Fishy some Love" is going at it in the tub. REPEATEDLY.

I knew right then it wasn't going to be very "artistic." IMO.

I just wanted to know more about the often evil goings on with our government that NO ONE ever really wants to believe. All the bad stuff gets explained away..."for our freedom." Or something like that.

I watched Stranger Things in the marathon sense, one after another until the season was done and there is some truth to "experiments" being done on unsuspecting USA civilians - or those forced to against their will. (project MKUltra)

With the SOW, fishyman is/was considered a God in his faraway land - and gets to make his human gal pal breathe underwater. HOW? Was she from there? What were the strange scars? And on and on.
Too many questions and way too many "tub" scenes.
I did cheer when there were a few humans willing to do whatever it took to save fishyman. That was the best part of it.

For the first time ever, I can post in this thread!! LOL. I'm not much of a movie person, but I went to see I Can Only Imagine with a friend today. Loved it!! It's amazing how powerful a story can be.

Just saw I Am Pretty with Amy Shumer. A crazy movie and not the usual off the rails Amy.

Re: At the movies II

There are several movies I'm interested in

Crazy Rich Asians - anyone have opinions?

The House with a Clock in the Wall - date movie for me and DH

Fantastic Beasts - oh course (I love fantasy/action movies)

I saw MI- fallout (by myself btw) it was good, but not as exciting as the others IMO

A Star is Born-- Wonderful! I am in awe of the talent!

Night School-- This was much funnier than I thought. I did not expect to laugh so hard! Plus, it has a serious note that I appreciated.
