Re: Tales from the sub

I learned a new term/phrase today

some male students were behind me in the hall today (I was the only female - this is important)

male 1: "I like her back"

(snafu = )

male 2: "Dude, that's a teacher!"

(snafu = {caught on to ref "baby got back"} then )

Re: Tales from the sub

Did you turn around and reprimand them?

Re: Tales from the sub

I've been mistaken for a student (from behind) before.

I pretended that I hadn't heard them. (they weren't directly behind me, but down the hall a bit)

Man..I wanna say "DUH" to the plumbers that set THAT system up for kids too small to trip the sensors!!

Sometimes ya really gotta wonder where the people that set things up get their brains from..

Re: Tales from the sub

I meet a student who can play multiple instruments & he likes "unique" ways of playing instruments so .... I corrupted him (cheesy grin)

he's going to check out 2cellos "Thunderstruck"
the Kongos - Come with me now (rock accordion)
and he already knew about Pentatonix

Re: Tales from the sub

working summer school again - seeing how some kids have "grown" (as people) from a year ago .... wow!!!

... and some kids who saw me in the halls asked if I'd be helping in the lunch room again - they remembered me

That's pretty neat. It's good to be remembered.

Re: Tales from the sub

with a few students I'd love to know if they've just matured or if someone has worked with them on their behavior (if someone has worked with them I'd love to tell them that its working really, really well)

There is an amazing class of (will be) kindergarteners - the teacher had to take care of something so I had to fill in for a bit .... told the class what we were going to do & how & that I knew it was not the way they usually did it, but that I did things differently - and its ok

Not one kid said "but, Ms. T/we always ...." (this has never, ever happened to me before .... there's always at least 1 - usually 2-4, who has to tell me how they normally do it)

LOL (poor teachers)

some of the kids want to be near their teachers so bad that they'll follow them to the bathroom

Re: Tales from the sub

what is going on .... in one day I had 4-5 different kids (all in different grades) tell & show me they had a loose tooth. This was the only day that I had kids do this.

(is the tooth fairy having a 2 for 1 sale)
