Re: When do they move out?

Sorry Kaykay, i was only commenting on the idea of a parent controlling the savings account of a 19 or 20 year old.

Kids aren't allowed to have a bank account here until they are 18 without their parents going to the bank with them and opening the account for them either. We have only just got an account organised for our daughter since she turned 16, and needs to buy petrol, lol.

Re: When do they move out?

Oh, sorry! I misunderstood.

I think it really depends on the kid, and what an individual kid needs. One of my sisters needed much more controlling by my dad than the rest of us did. Of course, he didn't "take over" until she had filed bankruptcy the first time and had to move home.

Re: When do they move out?

Thank you all for your replies,

I know that they will all move on eventually and I have been Blessed with good kids for the most part. Out of all my kids it is my 19 Yo daughter I worry about the most because no matter what we say or try to teach her she wants to do it her way but she will learn some day I am sure.
Maybe I am just excited to be alone with my wife because I see that that time is close. Ha, I will probably someday say I miss my kids living at home.

Re: When do they move out?

Swiss - you have a fireplace?

Tell the kids you want to do something special for your DW & you need their help (include DS's girlfriend if you want). Have everyone help clean, do laundry, etc... then they need to find other places to spend the night/weekend

have a bottle of wine, hot cider, something... lit candles...

They have to leave before you can miss them!
