Re: Pet peaves

Me: *texts people on Monday* Will you be needing ____ before next Tuesday? I will be unavailable this upcoming Friday through Monday and want to get it to you by this Thursday if you'll need it.

People: No, it can wait until after next Tuesday

People: *text me late Thursday morning* Hey, can you bring me _____? I want to use it Monday.

Doofuses. Let me just rearrange my whole day so I can accommodate your poor planning.

Re: Pet peaves

Gee, I have soo many lately.

The worst is when I let someone into traffic and they don't wave thank you but just keep on driving like they're owed that spot in traffic had I not given it to them.

Re: Pet peaves

New pet peeve, which is probably just a new application of an old pet peeve:

The way doctor's visits work now... it seems lately that when one needs to see a specialist, the GP's office must schedule it. That bugs me for two reasons. First, it completely takes me out of the management of my own health (i.e., what if I want to wait to see a specialist or see a different specialist?) and second, the GP's office schedules the appointment with absolutely no concern for MY schedule. (My old pet peeve is when people - mostly my DH - schedule things for me without asking what time would be convenient for me).

Re: Pet peaves

Ditto... That is aggravating. Sometimes I have to call them back and reschedule. Then, sometimes, I get the response of: "I'm sorry, but the doctor will be on vacation that week. More delay...

Re: Pet peaves

Yeah, I had one appointment I completely missed because I was unaware that it had been scheduled (DH and I had decided to wait on the results of bloodwork before seeing that specialist). I had cleared with our GP that the second specialist (the one called for by the results of the bloodwork) could wait until June (May being very busy) and his dingbat office assistant scheduled the appointment for early May. The specialist's office assistant was very put out when I called to reschedule for June.

"Apart" versus "a part"

Ready to ditch social media over that one. LOL. "So happy to be apart of this special team!!" SMH.

Re: Pet peaves

I don't know if this is a "pet peeve," but I am certainly peeved!

ODS works as a waiter. He is paid $2.50/hr plus tips. He's scheduled for less than 20 hours/wk because they don't want to pay benefits.

He got sick on Friday. Typical upper respiratory virus with laryngitis. He called out sick. It was his first time calling out sick.

He has to produce a doctor's note, not to show that he's well enough to return to work, but to prove that he was sick. It's company policy.

He went to the doctors. It's a virus. Let it run its course. It cost him $20. Had he not had insurance, the visit to the doctor to get a note would have cost him $120. Add on to that lost wages.

Now I'm wondering if we should eat at that restaurant because the effect of this policy is to make sick people come in and work with food.

Ewww.
