cooking faux pas

this is just to be funny or what was I thinking

Back when I was a teen my DM asked me to wash the lettus (note - wash not rinse off, can you see where this is going?). So I washed it ... with dish liquid ( ) the salad tasted really funny that night, and the meal ended with mom explaining that you don't wash lettus with soap, much less dish liquid.

Re: cooking faux pas

My FiL once served us some raw baby sliver beet salad leaves that i WISH he washed! - We were sitting there eating, and my SiL - his daughter - found a HUGE snail sitting there.

Re: cooking faux pas

I was poorly one day and having planned to make Thai Green chicken curry my mum offered to make it for me. I showed her the recipe.

It tasted terrible and we realised that whilst she'd almost followed it to the letter she'd used chicken gravy granules instead of chicken stock!

Re: cooking faux pas

I spent an hour one day walking around the grocery store looking for lemon zest... (And yes, I did ask some employees and none of them knew)
