Re: cooking faux pas
I was poorly one day and having planned to make Thai Green chicken curry my mum offered to make it for me. I showed her the recipe.
It tasted terrible and we realised that whilst she'd almost followed it to the letter she'd used chicken gravy granules instead of chicken stock!

Re: cooking faux pas
![]() ![]() I have a few stories about ex's faux pas, but in his defense he does have mild ADD. 1st story He had a bunch of friends over to watch a football game, and put pizza in the over. After a bit I asked about it and he told me something like he knew how to cook pizza, how hard could it be. It turned out blackened - that time. |

Re: cooking faux pas
One from my older sister
She once burnt water ... the pot did not boil dry, but the bottom was discolored - maybe due to stuff in the water |

Re: cooking faux pas
'nother story, but on myself
The first time I made gravy it was inedible ... I forgot to rinse the turkey off after brining it andthegravy was salty. Lucky, I had a backup (gravy mix) |

Re: cooking faux pas
LOL ok I just saw this thread, and what comes next is not recipe related but kind of goes with the OP's original post.
WHen I was young, (about in 4th grade) I brought a Cameleon (a lizard that changes color) home from school, I was instructed to add a drop of water on it's skin to keep the skin wet. Well I told my sister that we had to keep the skin wet. So she (when I was at school) decided to help and give the lizard a bath to get the skin wet. She ended up drowning the lizard, I was really sad but today I think it is one of the funniest stories of my childhood. |
