I have a "grand-dog"

DSD has gotten a puppy

So I guess I've got a grand dog now

(I can't wait to see what happens when "C" meets the cats)

now if I could just convince DH to allow me to get 2-3 dogs (yeah right) I'd love to have burnese mountain dogs ... I already have names picked out (Karst, Tarn, and maybe Fjord)

What sort of puppy? - She's a bit lucky to be able to have a puppy in a rental, isn't she?

Re: I have a "grand-dog"

An Australian herding dog (the short hair kind)

The apartment allows pets - and she's going to be moving to a new place that also allows pets

Yep - that's what she got .... one of the reddish brown ones.

They've been going on lots of walks.

Re: I have a "grand-dog"

"C" is so smart .... DSD picked out a great dog

I took her for a walk and when she was done she sat down, when I asked if she wanted to "go home" she ran for our house (mine and DH's, it was her first time here and she knew it was the "home" I was talking about.

Another time when we were playing she jumped up and bit my shorts. I immediately stopped and told her "no bite", then we resumed playing. She didn't bite once ....

and, LOL, I have discovered it is possible to herd cats

A small puppy blue heeler once herded my very large golden retriever at the beach, lol. I'm sure cats would be no issue!!!!

Re: I have a "grand-dog"

I've bought some toys for "C" ... and $ treats. We're going to be puppy sitting in a few weeks.

Guess I'm going to be an indulgent "grandma"

Re: I have a "grand-dog"

There was a Queensland Heeler in my family (I believe same type of dog as your grand-dog). They are very smart, energetic, and like water.

The one I knew while I was growing up lived with a Newfoundland... the QH would try to take a bath in the Newfoundland's giant water dish and would splash it all around!

They are good dogs for hikes and outdoor adventures as well if that is something you are interested in doing during dog-sitting.

Bernese mountain dogs are awesome too... but one would need quite a bit of space to house three I think!
